Lake Links
Location and Method:This lake is near Sarasota and Myakka City. It is a smaller lake with lots of gators. There is a small fee to enter the state park. Nice in that it is fairly close to the Florida west coast beaches. Lots of fish in this lake! #1- Pads in 3-4 ft of water- Scattered pads hold smaller fish. Try 1/8 ounce black/blue or junebug worm. Good spring through summer. #2- Cove littered with stumps just south west of Upper Myakka River- Use 1/8 ounce junebug worm or Senko. Water 3-4 ft deep. Make long casts as fish are spooky in shallow water. Spring through fall. #3- Myakka River- Move up river 200-300 yards. Work grass edges with 1/8 ounce junebug worm. Water approx. 2-3 ft deep. Mouth of river at lake can have some schoolers. Use flike or small worm. All year. #4- Water approx. 50 yards from birdwalk. Usually current still here. 1/8 ounce junebug or spinnerbait good. 2-3 ft deep. Summer spot. #5- Right side littered with pads/weeds just out from boat ramp canal. 3-4 ft deep. Worm 1/8 ounce redshad worm in cover slowly. Spring through fall. #6- Open water 50-100 yards from dam- Fish migrate through this spot. 1/8 ounce junebug or blackblue tail worms best. Any time of year.

Note: The "Paper" button on the map is from Zee Map where they create a PDF file for printing then email you one back, but they do charge for this! Alternately, you can print the map using your browser print function which is free. I recommend you do a print preview from your browser and only print the page where the map shows up.
1- What are the little balloons on the map? They are my favorite fishing spots! If you click them they'll tell you what kind of structure is there and how to fish them. If you use the scroll bar for the map, you will also see a list at the bottom which gives a small description of each of the spots.
