Lake Links
Location and Method:I'm not very familiar with Clewiston or the north end of the lake, but fished quite a bit in this area which is in the middle of the west side of the lake near Lakeport. Another great Florida bass fishing lake. #1-North Shore- Variety of cover including peppergrass, eel grass, buggy whips and Kissimmee grass. 3-4 ft deep. Best time to fish, Dec-April. Cast rattletrap in cuts between peppergrass and reeds. Work worm in eel grass/peppergrass holes (there are often beds there). If sightfishing, use Gitzit or similar tube bait with small splitshot. Spinnerbait outside edge of peppergrass. Flip pitch redshad or junebug worm in buggy whips (1/4-3/8 ounce). Flip heavy mats with 1/2-1 ounce craw or worm. #2-Bird Island- Buggy whip/cattail island in 3-4 ft. Pitch/ cast junebug worm 1/8-1/4 ounce in and around these. Good all year, but quantity not abundant. Main lake side seems to be the best most of the time. If overcast, work grass and buggy whip intersections. #3- Monkey box- Mix of peppergrass and hydrilla (also reeds, but better luck for me working the mix) in 4-6 ft. Cast the outside edge with shadrap or rattletrap. Flip mats with worm or craw. Best during spring spawn. #4- Moonshine bay- Usually only produces during spring 2-3 ft. Look for beds and use your normal bed fishing lures. #5-Buggy whips- When heading out to the main lake with Bird Island to the left, there is a cut that runs back to the Monkey box. On the right side of this cut are buggy whips in 3-4 ft of water. The 1st set of reeds is usually the best. Try pitching/casting junebug or redshad worms in 1/8-1/4 ounce. Also take a shot at topwater such as devilshorse or boy howdy. Bset from late spring through fall. #6-Cochrans Pass- Probably one of my most consistent summer time spots. I like working about 20 yards into the mouth from the main lake then working out. Schoolers frequent this spot and I have caught one at 6 pounds schooling. Try casting rattletraps right in the middle of the cut and to the side nicking the hydrilla or peppergrass. Try pitching worms in the buggy whips and Kissimmee grass outside the cut. A worm is also productive right down the middle of the cut.

Note: The "Paper" button on the map is from Zee Map where they create a PDF file for printing then email you one back, but they do charge for this! Alternately, you can print the map using your browser print function which is free. I recommend you do a print preview from your browser and only print the page where the map shows up.
1- What are the little balloons on the map? They are my favorite fishing spots! If you click them they'll tell you what kind of structure is there and how to fish them. If you use the scroll bar for the map, you will also see a list at the bottom which gives a small description of each of the spots.
