Lake Links
Location and Method:Large lake, very shallow up to only 8 ft deep. Variety of cover. The lake is near Hwy 27 south of Sebring. Gotta check this lake out for some great Florida bass fishing. #1- Small island- I like the west side of the island. Nice buggy whips and cattails in 4-5 ft. Flip or pitch a junebug/redshad worm in 1/4-3/8 ounce. Good all year round. #2-Big island- This island doesn't have as deep of water as the west side of the small one, but the opening to the cut from the south is good in the spring(3-4 ft). Cast or pitch 1/4 ounce worm to buggy whips/cattails and pads. #3-Cattails/buggy whips offshore weedline- The northeast side and the entire west line is good for pitching a worm (1/4 ounce) most of the year(4-5 ft). On the west side, try a #7 shad rap away from the cover in the 7-10 ft of water. #4-Cut through island- The cut itself is good in early spring. A fluke or lightly weighted worm (1/8 ounce) cast near structure is great! Cut is usually only 2 ft deep. #5-Offshore hydrilla beds/peppergrass- These beds are in water from 5-8 ft deep. Look for definite lines. Cast worms (1/4 ounce), work #7 shadrap and try boy howdy around clumps. In scattered stuff, also try 1/2 ounce black/blue rattletrap. Spinnerbait works in the thicker stuff, especially with wind. Good summertime spot. #6-Josephine creek- I can't say I've done much here, but some fishermen in my bass club with johnboats have caught boatloads up this creek. #7-Hendersons cove- The pads and reeds to the left of Henderson's landing (looking from the water) is usually good in late spring. A good 200 yard stretch. Pitch or cast a red shad worm into the 3-4 foot of water near the pads. Use 1/4 ounce weight and redshad. #8- Arbuckle creek- The mouth of the creek often has smaller schooling fish, especially where the 1st cut to the left intersects it, just past the sandbar as you are entering it (2-3 ft). Use smaller worms (6") in any color and 1/8 ounce weight. Cast upstream, near the cover and let the current work it back. Watch your line for irregular movement.

Note: The "Paper" button on the map is from Zee Map where they create a PDF file for printing then email you one back, but they do charge for this! Alternately, you can print the map using your browser print function which is free. I recommend you do a print preview from your browser and only print the page where the map shows up.
1- What are the little balloons on the map? They are my favorite fishing spots! If you click them they'll tell you what kind of structure is there and how to fish them. If you use the scroll bar for the map, you will also see a list at the bottom which gives a small description of each of the spots. Nestled on 4 acres, Trails End Fishing Resort is an attractive and well-maintained fishing retreat offering a low-stress and relaxing vacation atmosphere for the fishing and/or camping enthusiast on beautiful Lake Istokpoga.
